Hi there! In this blog, probably you are going to get a bit shocked or surprised. And no, you aren’t the only one to be in that state. Even I was taken a back after getting to know about these laws. So without any further delay, let’s have a look on these 5 weird laws.

  1. Chewing gum is against the law of Singapore: Yes! You read that right! If you are in Singapore, you are not supposed to chew a gum there. Now, you might wonder what’s the big deal in chewing a gum. But there’s a reason to everything. Singapore had to ban all gum substances in the year 1992. This is because the vandals used chewing gum to mess with the Mass Rapid Transit System. Due to this, the Housing and Development Board spent around $150,000 a year to clean gum waste.

2. It’s illegal to wear a mask in public in Denmark: I am wondering their situation during Covid-19. They are not allowed to wear any fake beards, hats, scarves, helmets, masks or burkas. Anyway, the reason behind this law is that the Danish government doesn’t want to see anyone covering their faces in any way so that they could easily identify people during crowded events. And if something negative happens, then people without their face covered can easily be identified.

3. Swearing in the UAE can land you up in jail: I would suggest you not to visit the UAE if you don’t have control over your tongue. In the United Arab Emirates, you can land up in jail because of swearing. And it’s not just about saying bad words aloud. You could even get fined for any kind of indecent physical gestures or any inappropriate text messages over the social media as well. Hence, if you have a bad mouth, it’s better to stay away from the UAE.

4. Building a sandcastle is illegal in Spain: We all enjoy writing our names on the sand or building sandcastles whenever we visit the beach. But don’t you ever try building a sandcastle on the beaches or anywhere around in Spain. This can get you fined. The fines vary by locations. Even the kids are not supposed to build a sandcastle.

5. You will get fined to be overweight in Japan: Yes! That’s true! The government of Japan created the “Metabo Law” stating that people between the ages 40 to 74 are compulsory to have their waists measured annually at the doctor. The men are fined if their waist size is over 33.5 inches and the women get fined if it’s over 35.4 inches. This law was created to prevent obesity in the country.
